ORTHODONTICS FOR CHILDREN

Why choose Profilo Dental?

All kid’s teeth look crowded and too big for their mouths when they first come through. This is perfectly normal and with time, most children’s faces will grow to make room for their adult teeth. The main goal with early orthodontist treatment is to kick-start growth where there is an obvious issue with development of a child’s face. The aim is for a short intervention that steers growth in the right direction.

We only recommend early orthodontic treatment where it will be of substantial benefit to your child, and if it can reduce or simplify the need for treatment with teen braces when they are older. We appreciate that quality treatment with kids' braces does come at a cost, which is why we offer interest-free payment plans to help you access any treatment you’re seeking for your children.

What are the signs that my child may need early orthodontic treatment?

If they have the early or late loss of baby teeth, difficulty with chewing or biting, a pronounced overbite or underbite, protruding upper front teeth, breathing mainly through their mouth or noisy sleeping.

Will braces be needed if my child has early orthodontic treatment?

Everyone is different, and we can work out how often your child should have a check-up based on the condition of their teeth and gums. This is usually every 6 months, but may be less depending on their needs

What are the benefits or early orthodontic treatment?

Some orthodontic conditions are easier to correct if treated early. Early orthodontist treatment is about preventing more severe problems later on, by addressing teeth and jaw development while kids are still growing.

Should I worry if there doesn’t look like room for all their teeth?

All kid’s teeth look crowded and too big for their mouths when they first come through. This is perfectly normal and with time, most children’s faces will grow adequately to be able to hold all their teeth.

What can be treated effectively with early orthodontic treatment?

An underbite is where the top front teeth sit behind the bottom front teeth. This creates a damaging bite that usually leads to the chipping and wear of front teeth but can often be treated with early orthodontic care. A small, narrow upper jaw can produce severe tooth crowding. Simple early orthodontic treatment can gently widen the upper jaw, making space for all their teeth and often improving nasal breathing. A crossbite is where the top back teeth sit inside the bottom back teeth. This creates a damaging bite that increases the risk of tooth wear and future jaw joint problems but is very treatable with early orthodontic care.
