What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is made up of two key parts, a titanium screw that replaces the root of your new tooth. Your jawbone loves titanium and will naturally fuse with your dental implant. This provides the solid base for your crown or bridge, the new teeth you see above your gums that are permanently screwed into your dental implant. In the months following dental implant placement, bone cells in your jaw attach to the titanium surface of the Implant, forming a highly robust foundation for the natural-looking replacement teeth they support.

What is the dental implant process?
The process is generally made up of two phases, with the first being placement of your dental implant, and the second where your permanent teeth are placed to give back your natural smile.
1. Consultation | dental implants are a highly technical and personalised form of treatment, and we want you to explain your goals to us in detail. We will look at your overall health to make sure you are suitable.
2. Planning | We need you to have a 3D facial scan to assess the quality of your jaw bone. This is to make sure you have enough healthy bone for treatment, or whether bone grafting may also be of benefit to you.
3. Placement | With planning complete, you are ready for your Implant surgery. This can be done under either a General or Local Anaesthetic. Recovery is fairly minimal, with little in the way of swelling or discomfort.
4. Teeth | Your dental implants will take 3 months to become fully fused to your jawbone. At this point we design the permanent porcelain teeth , which we will fix to your dental implant a few weeks later.
